    The Ring

is a book by Stephen Baxter, a British author. I couldn't resist posting this exchange between two of the main characters who are planning a thousand year space journey:

Mark Wu is a social engineer
Uvarov is an Artificial intelligence engineer.

"You're missing my point, " Uvarov said silkily, "Mark, democracy as a method of human interaction is already millenia old. And we know how easy it is to subvert any democratic process. There are endless examples of people using a democratic system as a game-theory framework of rule to achieve their own ends. Use your imagination. Is there truly nothing better?
Have we learned nothing about ourselves in all that time?"

"Democracies don't go to war with each other, Uvarov," Mark said coldly. "Democracies--however imperfectly--reflect the will of the many, not the few--or the one. As you've told me, Uvarov, we remain primitives. Maybe we're still too primitive to trust ourselves not to operate without a democratic framework."

Uvarov bowed his elegant, silvered head--but without conviction or agreement, as if merely conceding, a debating point.

I suggest somewhere in America's past the ptb decided to take a game-theory approach to reality. I would suspect that given the zeitgeist of the Atomic age and the fact that its very existence is based on the Monte Carlo method that the urge to go in this direction was born. After all, it worked with the bomb, why would it not work on people, notwithstanding the inherent destructive nature of it...that alone should have sent a strong message and it did to some.

So what we have now, is what we have now. A clusterf*ck that no one can untangle. Nothing else matters in the end. We can hardly rewind history, we can only move forward in an incremental fashion holding the sincere hope that those in power are actually sane and have the best interest of humanity at heart. By its very nature this requires an unselfish source of action.

Hope is not going to help us, Adam. The problem is those who are in power, are not sane and don't have the best interests of humanity at heart.

The only thing that is going to save us from getting destroyed is if enough people see through the lies and see that those in power are working to destroy us. If enough people could see it, we could stop them which is why they put some an enormous amount of energy and money into keeping the public in the dark, unable to think clearly.

Obama is sane in a world of insanity...he started with a sane approach to the world's problems and was driven back by the hordes of insane. He'll be gone in a few months and we enter the next phase of the game we play..."Who can prove themselves to be the most insane!"
