Rocket to the Red Planet & Region 2699: Solar Storm Forecast 02-08-2018

    TamithaSkov
    Published on Feb 7, 2018

The Sun wakes up & fires a near M-class flare just after the historic launch of the SpaceX Falcon
Heavy rocket with our favorite Starman, Major Tom, on board. All this while we wait for some
moderately fast solar wind to hit Earth with a mild solar storm and shower us with aurora views
once again. Learn the details of the coming solar storm, how much amateur radio operators,
emergency responders, and GPS users will be affected by the radio noise coming from the fiery
new active region, and see how the SpaceX launch heralds in a new era for space weather and
changes our relationship with the skies beyond our home planet.

None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of those who have provided
